I found a heck of a deal on a set of tires and was looking for a few opinions. I have a 2010 STi on stock wheels and tires. Tires are due for replacement this spring. I came across a set of barely used (~500 miles) BFG KDW2's 255/35/18. Stock tires are 245/40/18. THoughts?

I've always thought about getting a set of the KDW2s. They sound like a solid tire in wet and dry (with some road noise). During the winter months (below 45) I'm not sure how well they would do. If you do get them be sure to post up a review> I would like to hear from another subie driver how they really are. banis325, did you say you knew someone that ran them?

It'll be off by about 2 mph at highway speeds (255/35 is about 0.7" smaller in diameter than 245/40 according to tire rack). Other than that, they're generally considered good tires, and you should get a bit more grip out of the increased width and a bit better feel out of the reduced sidewall height. Yeah, these are definitely not meant for snow. Nor are my stockers. I am in the market for a used set of 17" rims to mount some all seasons to for the winter months.

Yea I saw an evo with them on and I talked to him about them and he said they were pretty quiet actually, I've also heard that they are not as good as people think for summer grip, but if you can get them cheap I would do it.

Soo I've been running these for a couple months now and I can they are waaaay better in the snow than the stock Dunlops. I haven't really gotten to push them on dry roads due to the weather we've been having. So more to come on that when it starts warming up. As far as appearance goes, I love the look. They are a bit wider than my stocks and the aggressive tread pattern really grabs attention. All in all, I am happy with my purchase and saving some $$.

Hmmmmm, good in snow you say? I was thinking about these again due to their somewhat chunky blocks. Not sure how long they would last on dirt/grass/gravel. How has the tread wear been over those two months?

They are "better" in the snow. They are definitely summer tires but perform much better than the stock Dunlops. I will definitely be in the market for a winter set of wheels and tires for next season. I have not noticed any unusual or aggressive tread wear.
