Just caught this on FB. Looks a bit different and upgraded handling, brakes, and aero. Not too shabby. BRZ tS News

This is still an "STi" just badged with the tS. The STi Team worked the car over, but it looks more cosmetic than anything. Maybe some additional handling characteristics, but nothing I'd spend the extra dough for. Judging from previous news and their efforts with the BRZ so far, I don't see anything being done power-wise on a full badged STi that is buzzing around. They're looking more at the "one with the car" idea, and not trying to make a straight-line power monkey. If they boosted it, it wouldn't be much as they want the car ON the road. LOL! In my opinion, it'd be a drift machine out-of-the-box and I don't think they want that image associated with the car. If they did a "full STi" workup on the car (turbo'd) would it be worth it? Or, would it just tarnish their name since they've been all about handling and control, focusing on the AWD and suspension aspects for so many years?

The tS is a specific trim level, separate from STi. True it has STi treatment, but it is not the STi trim that might eventually ever happen. I saw this on other sites like 2 weeks ago, and there are pages of similar discussions. Honestly, it's meh for me, but they aren't trying to sell this car to people like me.

Understood. Thanks for setting me straight! LOL! Still on the fence as to whether boosting the BRZ will make it better or worse in terms of the original intentions behind the car. I'm all about MOAR POWAAA! However, not at the cost of kicking the ass end out when you DON'T want it to.

^ I read the same somewhere, just as Brian said. The true STi is still coming.

I'm just trying to understand the notion of boosting a BRZ. It's already sold as a track/corner hungry car, so why boost it just to wrap it around a tree? I've Googled the idea and what people are doing (super/turbo charging), but nothing really out there regarding just the notion of boosting a BRZ in general. The die-hard traction/handling man vs. the power hungry straightliner. Is it sacrelige or awesome-sauce?

I'm all about MOAR POWAAA! However, not at the cost of kicking the ass end out when you DON'T want it to. To do a true build on the BRZ/FR-S/GT-86 and keep in the spirit of the original production would require a careful suspension and tire upgrade to match the power increase. In other words, not any harder than any other racing-style-specific build (like, autox versus rally versus tarmac tracks versus drift), lol. I think a boosted BRZ/FR-S/GT-86 with wide tires and coilovers would be a hell of a car to drive. Omar, you're taking us all on rides when you boost your car, right?

I completely agree with the above. Subaru/Toyota WILL NEVER BUILD A BOOSTED BRZ/FRS...I'll say it again, the BRZ/FR-S/GT-86 will never come from the factory with boost. Reps have stated and confirmed that over and over. People will buy and provide aftermarket boost options for both versions of this Toyobaru bastard child as long as they have money to do so. I offer this spectacular example of what can be achieved when money is no object.

It's already understood (as previously stated) they're not going to do a boosted version. Not trying to say they're going to if it came across that way. Just putting the question out there as to what's possible (power-wise) while still keeping it track/corner worthy.

Only the nerve that we all want a boosted BRZ/FR-S without having to void the warranty, lol.

Yeah, when I firmly stated that it won't come from the factory with boost, I wasn't frustrated at the people who say it might happen or with you...I'm frustrated with Toyobaru for not offering it.
It SHOULD happen...it just won't.
I mean, we've all seen all the crazy built STi examples out there, where people have spent upwards of $20k turning the STi into a beast, why would the BRZ/FR-S would be any different?
People who build the STi engine quickly become dissatisfied with the suspension and breaking set-up, which then quickly gets upgraded as well.
I would imagine a BRZ owner could slap on a turbo kit, BBK, fat wheels/tires, and minor suspension mods and be thrilled with a driver's car that is also capable of merging onto a busy highway without flooring it. That's just my $.02
