Here is the problem, my 99 rs has been having some troubles with a misfire. It only happens every once in a while and is very random.
For the longest time I have been running on a stock tune with a catless exhaust, I was thinking that not having a tune to support the exhaust could be a source of the problem. so I decided I would go to stage 2 (exhaust, intake, tune)
I just got my injen cai the other day and the misfire seemed to stay away for a while, until the cel came on and its a misfire on all 4 cyl. It seems to make me think that my theory of needing a tune was correct.
Well I found a pair of cams that someone was selling for pretty cheap that I could send to delta to get reground and then just go to stage 3 (intake, exhaust, 2000grind cams, tune).
My dad says that I should just go to stage 2 to see if that fixes my problem then go to stage 3, cause if the tune isn't the problem then the cams could potentially make it worse. It sounds like a good idea but I would like to save the 150 to get my ecu reflashed to stage 3.
What do you guys think? I'm in a pickle!

Only because I just had a misfire code I will share what fixed my experience. When did you last change your plugs? I changed mine and the code hasn't come back. Just a thought. I could be way off.

less than 10,000 miles.
I guess I could check my plugs to see what they look like.

do you have a lightweight flywheel by any chance?
def check plugs first, it's very easy to bend them when installing

I just checked plugs 10 mins ago and the gap is good and they look like they are burning about right, the only thing that I saw was a little oil in the spark plug tubes, not enough to hurt anything though.
Nope no lightweight flywheel or lightweight crank pulley.
How to do you guys feel about bosch spark plug wires?
I have heard a lot of hate on bosch's electrical stuff (already replaced a bosch o2 sensor).

Never had issues with Bosch stuff in gm cars but they are crap Ford's for some reason. See if some one has some down time to swap wires with you. I'm running the cheapest oreilly brand plug wires on my rally car and have not had any issues.

Well now I have a misfire on 3 and 4 and a have a code for a fuel trim malfunction.
My long term fuel trim is sitting at about 28% at an idle and it goes to about 16% at 2k rpms.
Can't find a vacuum leak, can't find an exhaust leak. O2 sensor was just replaced about a month ago. Spark plugs are fine.
I'm starting to get a little frustrated.
Thanks for the help

Just a couple generic things to try if you haven't already... -Try smoking it to find a leak (if there is one). -Make sure the plugs are the correct plugs and have the right gap. -Check all grounds. My bet is on the coil, not the wires. I dont know how expensive they are but if that doesnt fix it, try to take it back. lol Someone with the same experience: forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=374906

one easy way to make sure you main coil pack isn't cracked or a faulty wire, spray some water on it and see if any are ark out.

I tried the spray bottle trick and didn't get anything, plugs are right and have the correct gap. I couldn't find any vacuum leaks.
I'm thinking maybe MAF sensor? I just don't know how to test it.
