I have recently changed the transmission mount and crossmember bushings for my 2013 wrx. Got it done at Ecotech. And about a week before that, I put in new shift linkage bushings (both front and rear) at the last install day. When I drove off the ecotech lot i immediately noticed a rattle at around 2000 rpm, and at idle. I'm figuring its the heat shield cause of the really "loose" sound to the noise. Sounds like a flimsy piece of metal under me aka a heat shield. So I'm taking it back to ecotech and they'll retorque the bolts or something, hopefully its a quick fix.
But my main problem now is another noise that is far more mysterious and annoying. It started up about 3-5 days after i took it to ecotech, so I'm not sure if I'm right in saying it has something to do with the things i just put on. I'll describe as best I can: I usually only hear this noise when hitting bumps. Even very mild road bumps will trigger it. But sometimes it'll also happen when braking softly, like pulling up to a stoplight. I am pretty sure its coming from in front of me. It sounds like a squeaky fence gate almost, but its not a constant noise. It will sort of chirp a bit, then chirp again and again. I'll try get it on video and post it up.
So if anyone has a clue about what this could be, or a link to a sight that could help me track it down, it would be greatly appreciated. I also have another noise actually but I'll wait till these two are fixed to start with that one haha

Does it sound like a belt is chirping? Like do you hear it when your ac is on or when your steering wheel is turned?

It sounds like metal is slipping on metal. not internal in the engine or tranny, but like a bolt that wasn't tightened all the way, or the metal sleeve of one of the mount is rubbing against the bolt. It'll just be one of those things that you have to get under there and look

ok. If that's the case it could be the heat shield again. I didnt think it would make two noises though

I'm with storyworm, I'd crawl under there and double check all the bolts involved with the install. I've got a jack and stands you're welcome to borrow if you're ever anywhere near downtown. I once forgot to reinstall a bolt on an alternator (so it had like 2 out of 3 bolts holding it on) -- that made some weird noises.

yeah im in clayton, so i might take you up on that offer. I got my ecotech appointment tomorrow and they're going to fix it for free. I know they will fix the first sound but if this second sound is from the heat shield as well then chances are all problems will be solved. But if not then I would be appreciative of some jack and stands

So anything further on this? Did you or EcoTech fix it?

yeah both problems got fixed for free. It was all heatshield. But now on to the third noise haha. This one does not happen often and is not nearly as annoying as the other two, so im not hard pressed to fix it if it's a hard process. It's just this very faint tapping that occurs sometimes when I start rolling off a stoplight or I'm braking to a stop. It only happens when im going less than I'd say 7 mph. I haven't researched at all im pretty busy but in the next couple of days i think I'll an idea of what part it is at least.

You can hear things over that exhaust of yours? Pretty shocked. As for the third noise, I'm thinking it could be your sway, might be tapping on something, but you're still on stock ones so I'm not 100% sure. Mine makes a ton of noises when I stop and go, everything is tight, i just dont get why.

I will seriously lock this thread if one more person says anything about Ecotech or Vigilant Motorsports in this thread.
You can be more specific in PMs if anyone ever asks for more specific advice. Post your personal experiences, good or bad, in the reviews section. It helps everyone out when choosing their parts provider, tint installer, audio guy, subie shop, etc.
EDIT: on second thought, I'm going to nip this in the bud.
EDIT2: For context, a joke was made about one local shop being worse than another local shop. Previous occurrences on other boards have shown that it is incredibly difficult to have a civil discussion about local shop recommendations in St. Louis. As a result, only personal experiences will be allowed to be posted, and they must be posted in the Reviews section. We don't need warzones like this cropping up and derailing threads.

Yeah. I mean if its not harmful i really dont care if its there. But it would be nice to not have it, or at least having the peace of mind of knowing whats making the sound
