New IL Route
Starting/Ending Point: Massa's Parking lot across from MotoMart (3721 New Town Blvd, St Charles, MO 63301) Leg 1: goo.gl/maps/Ekjuc Leg 2: goo.gl/maps/yDpnd
So anyone that was with us last year, we've run the IL routes before and have had a blast. Let it be known though, the roads that we take through some of the parts are not in the best condition by any means. Also, we use the ferry system twice there and once on the way back home and lowered cars have not seemed to have much luck when it comes to the entrance and/or exit angles. With that warning, the route really should be a blast. Lots lots of seat time, seriously it's a long route. If you don't want to drive but still want to tag along, navigate for someone! It probably wouldn't be the worst idea to have a navigator riding with you anyway AND to have a walkie talkie. Cell service in some of these places is non existent sooooooo yea.
When: 10/4/14 Meeting time at Massas Parking lot: 11:00AM Leaving the Massas Parking lot: 11:30AM The Golden Eagle Ferry IS a toll Ferry and you will need to purchase a "Round Trip" pass = $15.00 in CASH.

Ok ya'll. So I tested out the route this weekend. This cruise is definitely NOT for those Subies that are low, pure show cars, basically anyone that does not want to ever drive on bad roads. A majority of these roads have small limestone surfaces and even the paved roads that we will be on are NOT in the best of conditions. If the road is dry like this weekend, we're gonna kick up a nice size dust cloud and visibility will be somewhat reduced, so distance between cars is an absolute must. With all of that being said, these roads are actually really fun to drive and the scenery is amazing! If you don't want to drive your car but still want to come and hang out, see if you can hitch a ride with one of the other peeps that are going on the drive. It's a long route, that's fo sho, and our average speed on the back roads will probably be right around 45mph. This weekend I think it took about 3 and a half hours to complete wiath no lunch break from start to finish. A suggestion: (unless you all want to stop for lunch in Grafton) bring snacks and something to drink along the way or eat before you come out. Believe me, driving this while you're hungry is just the worst thing ever. If you've got any questions feel free to ask!
