There's a few factors that would go into a successful trip down there.
1) I need to make sure that nobody else will be down there that weekend. 2) I need to make sure that I have time to get down there and manicure the weekend before. 3) It would be most fun down there with a smaller size group. 5-15 people. And since I'm new to the group, I'm not really sure how many would attend this "camping trip".

Well, do any weekends in September work out well for your area? That was the month that we were originally shooting for, but we had not chosen an ideal date as of yet. If we can help out with cleaning up the area prior to let us know. I know there has been a lot of talk about a weekend trip so I'm sure that we can have the 5-15 people. Shouldn't be too much of an issue to keep it a small group.

Say the word if you need help getting things ready vaderm3. We can even get a cruise/work-day event planned if need be. Kind of last minute, I know, but I'd be glad to help out.

So that's at least three of us that would take a trip down there the weekend before with you and help get things cleaned up.

Camping trip bump Fall is approaching, let's get some more solid plans going. Maybe even something at a local place if we need to. Just to get away, have a nice fire, bring some beers, and chill

I'm still down for this too. As far as another local place, we can try Babler. Fairly close, nice facilities, and kind of in the middle of everyone. Thoughts?

We were thinking about Johnson's ShutIns or Babler. I haven't camped at either lol so I have no preference. Babler works for me.

Johnson Shut-Ins is nice, but may be a bit of a drive for the IL guys. I've camped at Babler before and it's pretty nice with plenty of trails to hike and (I think) has some nice bike trails too. The only downside is that it is kind of close to home so not so many stars at night and depending on the prevailing conditions you may hear highway sounds. Though, it's barely audible so not really all that bad.

I'm down with either. Since Sept is kind of getting away from us, should we shoot for Oct? I know both campgrounds say they are open year round.

October works for me. We would be out for the weekend of the 12th and 13th, but others should work.
